Bovine Surface Anatomy in 3D, in Layman and Medical Terms
We've added the surface anatomy of the bovine to our 3D Anatomy Viewer. 🐄 You can highlight and select the important surface landmarks of the cow, and we've labelled them with both layman and medical terms, such as pin bones / ischial tuberosity.
Why surface anatomy matters
It's really important to know as a basis for your anatomy of the cow. Farmers will often describe a problem using the everyday names, so knowing both sets of terms makes communication with clients much smoother. We also hope it's useful for people teaching anatomy: it links the internal anatomy to the outside of the animal, and can help when explaining the clinical examination and how common conditions show up on the outside of the cow.
Adjust your zoom sensitivity
We've also added a zoom sensitivity option. If you're using a trackpad on a laptop and the zoom feels too sensitive (or not sensitive enough), open the settings panel and change it there.
Where to find it
On IVALA Learn, it's in the Library under 3D Anatomy Viewer, then Ruminant > Bovine surface anatomy. On VIN, the easiest route is the anatomy interactive content tile in the Student Center, then open the Learn Anatomy in 3D project.
