Canine Gaits in 3D: Animated Walk Cycles From Any Angle
Here's a whole new dimension to understanding dog locomotion. 🐾 Our Canine Gait Animations are a bit different from our usual point and click content: they're fully rotatable 3D animations of a dog in motion.
Every stride, from any angle
Spin the dog around to watch each walk cycle from any angle you choose. Use the panel on the right to switch between gaits: walk, amble, pace, trot, canter and gallop, plus idle. It's a great way to understand how speed, cadence, paw placement, weight transfer and joint coordination work together in each gait.
Who it's for
We think it'll be of particular interest to anyone working in orthopaedics, sports medicine and rehabilitation, including physios and osteopaths, as well as students and trainers.
What's next
We planned to add the ability to slow down the animation, and that's now arrived, as you'll see in our equine gaits post. We'd also like to add a footfall panel showing when each foot touches the ground, since that's part of what defines each gait. You'll find the animations in the main menu under Terminology > Canine gait animations, and on VIN via Library > Learn Anatomy in 3D.
