Cow Skull Key Nerves in 3D: Horn and Eye Innervation
New in the 3D Anatomy Viewer: the bovine skull key nerves. 🐄 We've added a 3D cow skull with the key nerves highlighted, so you can clearly see the innervation of the horn and the eye.
Before disbudding or dehorning
If you're about to perform disbudding or dehorning, it's a handy review of the nerves involved, the areas they supply and the landmarks around them, helping you achieve good local anaesthesia of the horn. The nerves included are the cornual, infratrochlear, supraorbital and infraorbital nerves, along with the auriculopalpebral nerve and its rostral and zygomatic branches, and the optic (II) nerve.
Useful for eye procedures too
Because several of these nerves relate to the eye, it's also useful when you're planning eye surgery, or any sensory or motor block in this region.
