Calf Forelimb Bones in 3D: Our First Farm Animal Content
Back in 2018 we were happy to release our first piece of farm animal content: the bones of the bovine forelimb in 3D. 🐄 It was our first new 3D content of that year, with more farm animal data planned to follow.
Scanned from a calf
The scan data comes from a calf. In essence the bones are the same as those of the adult forelimb, so it's a good representation for learning bovine forelimb anatomy. The bonus is that you can appreciate some of the separate centres of ossification, for example on the ulna, that haven't yet fused to the main bone, along with the potential spaces where the growth plates would be. That's worth keeping in mind whenever you're looking at young animals.
All the usual tools
You can do all the normal things in this scene:
- Switch naming conventions between clinical and NAV terms
- Hide selected bones with the H key
- Toggle on an outline for extra context
- Try the Test Yourself modes to check what you know
