Equine Head Median Section in 3D, Plus a Sinus Update
We're releasing an update to our equine head (equine skull) content, with a few changes. The headline is a brand new section of the equine head, scanned from a real head.
A real section of the equine head
We recreated this median section using a scan of the region from a horse cadaver, so the accuracy is excellent. It has some really interesting features, and it's cool to be able to appreciate things like the guttural pouch in situ. As with all our content, you can select the different features and get information about them.
Smoother interaction
We've also made a few changes to how you interact with the content:
- Your cursor changes to a hand whenever there's more information available about an object
- You can select structures using the list on the right
- Autofocus makes the selected object the focus of the camera, so it's easier to move around the scene
Sinuses with NAV terminology
We've updated the sinuses scene. Before, our nomenclature wasn't consistent with the Nomina Anatomica Veterinaria, and we've since changed that, so there's new terminology to explore. Getting the sinus names right matters, because they're the language you'll use for sinusitis cases and dental referrals.
Bones, teeth and hyoid apparatus
There's also a scene with the bones, the teeth and the hyoid apparatus. If you want more on the skull and teeth, see our post on the equine skull and teeth.
