Canine Skull Bones and Sinuses in 3D

We have two updates to our canine skull content, and both came about because of you. 💀 The skull is from a puppy, and you can now explore its individual bones as well as a schematic of the sinus system.

Every bone of the canine skull

We've individualised the bones of the canine skull, so you can select each one and see how they fit together. You can do all the normal things, like hide them and gradually work your way down through the layers. You can also split them apart to see every bone individually, as well as how they all sit together in the real animal.

Why we built it: classifying skull fractures

Oddly, this is something we didn't pay much attention to when we first made the skull. It was feedback from you, particularly emergency and critical care vets trying to classify their patients' skull fractures, that made us go ahead and build it. Knowing exactly which bone a fracture line crosses is a big part of describing it, so we hope this proves useful on the clinic floor as well as in the lecture theatre.

The sinus system

The second update is a schematic of the sinus system. You can see the frontal sinuses and the maxillary sinuses, and how they relate to the nasal cavity and the overlying cranium.

Tell us what you think

There's a feedback form inside the content where you can leave your name, email and message. Tips, pointers or criticism, we'd love to hear it, so get in contact.
