Bovine Stifle Joint in 3D: Ligaments and Cruciates
Today we're releasing the flexed bovine stifle joint. 🐄 Previously we had the bovine proximal tibia, which was nice for seeing the menisci and some of the cut ligaments. This new scanned model also has the distal femur attached to the tibia.
Ligament origins and attachments
With both bones in place, it's much easier to appreciate the different ligamentous origins and attachments of the region, including how the cruciate ligaments attach, which is really important to understand.
Why a cow stifle matters for horse vets
You're unlikely to be operating on the stifle joint of a cow, but the anatomy of this region is really similar between the cow and the horse. So it's a really useful bit of content if equine anatomy and surgery interest you, for things like arthroscopies.
Where to find it
It's in the usual place under the 3D Anatomy Viewer on ivalalearn.com. On VIN, use the anatomy interactive content tile in the Student Center.
