Canine Brachial Plexus in 3D, Made for the RUMM Block
New in the 3D Anatomy Viewer: a schematic representation of the canine brachial plexus. 🐕 We created it with the help of an anaesthetist who was looking for material to help teach an increasingly popular nerve block, the RUMM block.
The nerves of the RUMM block
RUMM stands for the radial, ulnar, median and musculocutaneous nerves. The structures we've included are the ones that matter for this block, so it's ideal if you're learning or performing the procedure and want to know exactly which nerves you're targeting.
An overview of the forelimb nerves
Beyond the block, it's a focus on the brachial plexus region, the nerves running through it and some of the relevant muscles in the area. That makes it very useful for learning about the different nerve outflows from the cervical and thoracic spine, and for understanding the nerves of the forelimb in general. For the muscles they supply, see our canine forelimb muscles and innervation.
Where to find it
On IVALA Learn, it's in the usual place, and a little icon in the menu will help you reach it. On VIN, all our 3D content now lives within the 3D Anatomy Viewer, which you'll find under Library > Learn Anatomy in 3D.
