Canine Full Body Musculature in 3D, Now Including the Spine

We're extremely excited to release the entire musculature of the canine. 🐾 It lets you see the relationship between all of the muscles in one go, and we're especially proud of it because we think it's the first of its kind to achieve such anatomical fidelity. 🏆

All the regions, together at last

Previously we focused on regions of the dog: the hindlimb, the body wall, the head and neck and the forelimb. Now we've brought them all together, so you get a real feel for how the musculature fits together. One area we didn't have at all before was the muscles of the spine, and they're naturally part of this new content. The accuracy is aimed at what's relevant to veterinarians, not just people with an interest in canine anatomy.

Use the search bar

With so many muscles, it can be quite hard to navigate the scene. The search bar works nicely to narrow things down: start typing the name of a muscle and it'll be shown while everything else is hidden. In the video we pull up the triceps.

Why it's a beta

We've launched it as a beta. We're very confident it's already highly accurate, but there are likely small improvements to make to the origins, insertions and overall structure of some muscles. Since there's nothing else like it out there, we figured it's better to let you learn from it while our anatomists give it a once-over. 🧐 And yes, we know the colours are off (tendons aren't red all the way to the bone!); we've put aesthetics aside for now while we make sure the topology is right. If you spot anything, please use the feedback button in the 3D content.

You'll find it under Canine in the menu, just follow the new tag, in the 3D Anatomy Viewer on IVALA Learn and via Learn Anatomy in 3D on VIN.
