Equine Male Reproductive Tract in 3D: Glands and Prepuce
We've just released some really nice new content: a scan of the reproductive tract of the equine male, the stallion. 🐎
The accessory sex glands
This model is really useful for exploring the positioning of the different accessory sex glands of the stallion, along with the muscles of the area. Seeing them together in 3D makes it much easier to picture what you're feeling for on a rectal examination.
Making sense of the prepuce
The other tricky area is around the tip of the penis, the prepuce of the horse. It's composed of a few different layers and can be quite confusing, so we've labelled the different anatomical landmarks to help explain it.
Sadly, the scan is missing the testicles, but we're going to figure out a way to add those in the future.
Where to find it
It's in our 3D Anatomy Viewer under Equine abdomen > Equine male reproductive tract scan. On VIN, go to Library > Learn Anatomy in 3D for the all-in-one 3D Anatomy Viewer, and on IVALA Learn you'll find it under 3D content in the 3D Anatomy Viewer tab.
