Augmented Reality Anatomy: A Canine Heart and an Equine Forelimb [NO LONGER AVAILABLE]
We are adding this content for historical sake - the prototype apps are no longer available.
We're always pushing the frontiers of what technology can do for your learning, and augmented reality (AR) has been one of our playgrounds. 🥽 Here are two of our AR experiments. A quick heads up: the heart app was an alpha release and is no longer available, so think of this as a peek behind the scenes rather than something you can download today.
A canine heart in your surroundings
[THIS IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE] We released an alpha version of our AR app for both iOS and Android. It let you place a canine heart in your surroundings and interact with both its surface topology and its internal anatomy. In the video you can see the controls to toggle between the interior and exterior, relocate the heart, search for structures and hide or isolate them, with a short description for each one.
It's great for anatomy learning, but also for anyone wanting a quick refresher of heart anatomy before performing an echo. Our internal testing gave us amazing feedback, and we wanted to hear from more of you.
An equine forelimb through AR glasses
The second video is a prototype: us playing with a reconstruction of the equine forelimb using our Meta2 augmented reality glasses. The limb sits in the room around you, so you can move around it and look at it from different angles.
Where this fits today
Neither of these is part of our current content. If you want to explore a canine heart or an equine limb in 3D today, you'll find them in our browser-based 3D content.
