Ruminant Stomachs in 3D: Inside the Goat
We're chuffed to release two new scenes into our farm animal content: the stomachs of the ruminant. 🐐 We built them from goat data, and for all intents and purposes the stomachs of a goat are very similar to those of a cow or sheep, so this will give you a very good understanding of the cow too, probably the most important farm animal for training vets.
Scene one: topology of the four stomachs
The first scene shows the overall topology of the four stomachs. Interact with the objects and hide them as normal to see the different cavities and the communications between the stomachs.
Scene two: inside the stomachs
In the second scene we've split the stomachs open so you can see inside. Look for structures such as the laminae of the omasum, the oesophageal groove and the different cavities of the rumen, including the dorsal and ventral ruminal sacs.
Show or hide the body outline
The animal's outer shell is there to give you context for the direction in which the stomachs sit. If you'd rather it was out of the way, press the play button to take it away, and again to bring it back.
Test yourself
Don't forget you can test yourself in these scenes too: we'll ask you what a bit of anatomy is and work through the different areas.
